P5/6/7 had an amazing debate!
2nd Feb 2024
Our class spent part of this week researching and preparing for a debate as part of our literacy learning with Mrs Rainey.
The debate was: Should children have access to social media?
There were 2 teams: proposition and opposition
Both teams took turns presenting their arguments, with a chance for rebuttals at the end. All done to a strict time limit and marks awarded for content, delivery and timing. These lessons teach the children valuable skills in presenting, responding and creating a reasoned argument.
They did absolutely brilliantly and the teachers and classroom assistants in our class acted as the panel of judges.
Lots of outstanding research done along with super speaking skills. The rebuttal part was intense! :-)
